Hair PicsThese are sometimes called hair sticks or bun pics. There are generally two ways to use these. You can wrap the hair in a bun or a French twist and then use the pics to secure the hair. Either way, the hair needs to be twisted together securely first, with the tail tucked up into the center of the bun from beneath. Then the pic is inserted straight in first. When you get to the head, then you lay the pic down parallel to the head and work it through the bun, making sure it comes out through the bun to lock the hair in place. It's a learned skill ladies!
Hair Daggers!!! These are worn just like a hair pic. The large, flat, forged blade has been dulled so as not to cut the hair. The flat surface makes this piece very comfortable and secure. Each blade is hot forged and every top is unique. This group of daggers have all been sold, but they will give you an idea of the various styles. they can be done in bronze or nickel silver, with prices ranging from $80 up to $125 for the ones with antler tops. Tell us which one you like best, and we will try to oblige with something unique for you. They are heavier than a normal hair pic, so order a length that will be appropriate for your hair.

With these, I recommend using a bun. Be sure the tail is securely tucked up into the bun from underneath. Then start near the top edge of the bun and screw the pic straight in like you're heading for your nose. When you get to the head, lay the pic parallel to the head and keep screwing. When the pic wants to come out below the bun, back it up a little and pull a little of the bun over the point of the pic. This locks the hair in place top and bottom with the pic. You want to order the length that will extend a little past the bun. When in doubt, order medium. I have a large in my hair.
